Abandoned Crab Trap Removal Program History

Sab RatThe Abandoned Crab Trap Removal Program was established with legislation in 2001 and Texas Parks and Wildlife regulating the program. In 2017 San Antonio Bay Partnership began participating to help clean the bays of abandoned crab traps. Now, SABP organizes the efforts in and around the Espiritu Santo Bay and San Antonio Bay and works with partnering organizations including Aransas National Wildlife Refuge, Lavaca Bay Foundation, Matagorda Bay Foundation, Mission Aransas National Estuarine Research Reserve.
