A wonderful group of folks joined in on the fun to Paddle into the Lagoon on Sunday, October 26th as mild winds and  fair temperature made for a delightful paddle on a beautiful autumn day. Hosted by San Antonio Bay Partnership and lead by Alan Raby of Dolphin Kayak, the paddle began at The Sanctuary who graciously allowed us to launch from their gorgeous property and relax at their Marina Pavilion for a post-paddle social.
The opportunity to get out in this part of the San Antonio Bay Estuary attracted folks from all over: Victoria, Inez, Elgin, Sachse, Richmond, Richardson and Port O’Connor. Getting to know each person during the paddle was a special part of the day’s experience as we learned about the diversity of the group as well as the environment. After a delicious lunch provided by HEB in Port Lavaca, Allan Berger gave an interesting talk on Marsh Ecology pointing out the plants and animals in the wetland habitat as well as today’s issues facing this ecosystem.
San Antonio Bay Partnership plans to host more events to support its mission to protect, restore and enhance the natural resources of the San Antonio Bay System for the benefit of the ecosystem and its human uses. Watch for announcement of upcoming events SABayPartnership.Org  and come Join Us!
